He was speaking during the golconda Bonalu celebrations last month. He said that this year the government had allocated Rs 15 crore for the festival's operation. In addition, a nationwide holiday has been proclaimed by the government for Telangana's Bonalu festival.

The ap government is prepared to purchase up to 5 lakh metric tonnes of the Bondalu variety (MTU-3626) of paddy from growers this season after discouraging its production for the last six to seven years. This came when the national government approved the purchase.
