Speaking at the event, kamalakar remarked that despite the farmers' disappointment with the monsoon, they had been helped by the kaleshwaram lift irrigation project built by the chief minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao. He said the water release from the lower manair dam would begin on July 25 and that it would help roughly 10 lakh acres of land. While MMD has 15 TMC of water, LMD only has seven TMC. He added that the water release would be done while keeping 20 TMC under MMD and LMD. According to him, 9.5 lakh acres must be supplied with 40 to 50 tmc of water in order to be farmed under LMD up to Suryapet.
According to Vinod Kumar, opposition parties have blasted the State government, alleging that the kaleshwaram project was built at the expense of taxpayer money. But now, he argued, the same project was defending farmers from a perilous circumstance. Kanumalla Vijaya, the chair of the karimnagar Zilla Parishad, as well as the MLAs Rasamai Balkishan and Sunke Ravishankar, the district president of the BRS, thota Agaiah, and others were there.
