The revenue collection target of the department for the current year is 36 thousand crores. And the growth rate of tax collection is 5.31 percent. chief minister Siddaramaiah said that all officials should focus on achieving the set target. Smuggling of illegal liquor should be avoided and smuggling should be curbed. Also, chief minister Siddaramaiah has instructed the officials of the Excise Department that they should collect the arrears of tax and achieve the set target in tax collection.


He reviewed the progress of the Excise Department at the Vidhana Soudha on thursday and said that the revenue collection target for the department for the current year is 36 thousand crores. And the growth rate of tax collection is 5.31 percent. He said that all officers should focus to achieve the set target. The enforcement forces should keep a close watch on the illegal liquor movement in the border areas of the state, especially from goa state. Smuggled liquor production adversely affects the health of the poor. This should stop the manufacture and sale of bootleg liquor. Vigilance should be maintained everywhere. He directed that all deputy commissioners of the department should give priority to the increase in revenue collection.


Action should be taken to collect the arrears of tax. A separate meeting will be held to discuss the improvement measures to be taken in the department. He asked to get the services of home Guard personnel at the check posts of the border areas and to submit a proposal for other facilities. Raju, Excise Commissioner ravi Shankar, Chief Minister's Political Secretaries K. Govindaraju and Naseer ahmed among others were present.
