Mohammed Azharuddin, a former captain of the indian cricket team, is not eligible to run in the upcoming hyderabad cricket Association (HCA) elections, according to the committee formed by the supreme Court. Due to a conflict of interest stemming from the former cricketer's position as president of the Deccan Blues cricket Club while still holding the office of HCA president until early this year, Justice L. nageswara rao, a former judge on the supreme court, struck his name from the voter list for the HCA elections slated for this month.

Azharuddin was deleted off the voter list as a result of Nageswara Rao's decision from July 31, 2023, according to a letter the latter received from the former. For one term or a period of three years, whichever is longer, all executive committee members of clubs where a person/his family members are involved in the management of multiple clubs have been disqualified from voting or running in the subsequent elections to the HCA.

The letter states that "you have been disqualified and not included in the voter's list" because, in accordance with the information provided to the Single Member Committee, you are the President of Deccan Blue cricket Club. The letter states that on september 30, 2022, Azharuddin was requested to gather data on the specifics of all registered clubs that are HCA members by the supervisory committee, which was formed by the supreme Court. Azharuddin was listed as the club's president in a letter from Deccan Blues cricket Club secretary P.R. Man Singh dated october 10, 2022.

Elections for the HCA will take place on october 20. The notification for the elections for the positions of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, treasurer, and councillor was released on september 30 by the electoral officer V.S. Sampath. The elections were scheduled to take place in september 2022, however they were delayed because of legal problems. The supreme court appointed nageswara rao as the only member of a committee in february of this year to oversee HCA and assist the holding of elections.

Because to conflicts of interest or ownership of numerous clubs, he prevented more than 57 clubs from participating in or casting votes in the HCA elections for three years in July. He appointed Sampath, a former chief election commissioner, as the election officer on august 7. Azharuddin was chosen as the HCA's president in 2019; he served until the supreme Court's selection of Nageswara Rao. During Azahruddin's administration, the HCA became divided, and the warring parties began to seek the telangana High Court.

The issue was ultimately heard by the supreme court, which was the one-member body tasked with sorting out the tangle. Azharuddin has already declared his intention to run once more for HCA president.
