Continuous efforts are being made by the Railways to strengthen rail connectivity in Rajasthan. New lines, doubling, gauge conversion and electrification works are being done at a rapid pace by the Railways to strengthen the infrastructure. survey works are being approved for the construction of new lines to connect new areas through rail.
In order to strengthen rail connectivity in the tribal dominated area in rajasthan, on 9 june 2025, the central government approved the final location survey for the new rail line Marwar Bagra (Jalore)-Sirohi-Swarupganj (96 km). Jalore is an important city of rajasthan which is located on the Samdari-Bhildi-Gandhidham railway route. Sirohi is the district headquarters and is located near Delhi-Ajmer-Aburoad-Ahmedabad.

Announcing this historic step to connect Sirohi district headquarters with the country's rail network, Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that it is necessary to connect Sirohi by rail. This was a long pending demand, which has been fulfilled today.
This project will provide direct and effective connectivity to Sirohi, a tribal dominated area of rajasthan, by connecting it to the indian rail network for the first time. The construction of this line will promote economic development in the region as well as improve the standard of living of the residents of the region. Many types of employment opportunities will be created directly and indirectly in the region. It will provide convenient and fast travel options for passengers, which will reduce travel time and expand convenience.
It will provide rail connectivity with major cities of rajasthan as well as big cities like Ahmedabad, mumbai and Delhi. It will prove to be a strategic link for the transportation of goods and passengers from the border areas.
