Where do IPS and IAS get trained?
Whenever a candidate passes the UPSC exam and chooses IPS or IAS, first of all he has to go to Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie (LBSNAA) for training. IPS training is divided into four parts, which are Foundation Course, Phase 1 Training, district Practical Training and Phase 2 Training. The training locations of all the four phases are different. Foundation Course is held in LBSNAA. Here fresh recruits of Central Services (Group A) of All India services are prepared. This is a three-month training, after which the training of IAS and IPS becomes separate.
How is the training done?
After this, the next stage of IPS training is IPS Training Centre. This centre is Sardar Vallabh Bhai patel National police Academy, Hyderabad. This is a premium institute for IPS trainees. After 11 months of rigorous training here, these trainees are allotted cadre to perform their duty and are sent there. There they undergo physical training and are fully prepared for the future. IAS officers are trained physically and mentally in LBSNAA.
How much is the fee in LBSNAA?
Talking about the fees, trainee officers have to pay very low fees in LBSNAA. A trainee has to pay Rs 350 per month for a room for just one person, while the room rent for two people is Rs 175 per person. This also includes the cost of things like electricity, water. Apart from this, the total mess fee is Rs 10,000. Here trainee IPS and IAS also get other facilities like hostel, games, food, cycling, complex, gym, library and IT service.
