Priyanka Chaturvedi, shiv sena (UBT) rajya sabha mp, has urged the government to take urgent action against the misuse of AI tools that sexualise women on social media platforms.

She raised concerns over the growing trend of AI-powered features being prompted to undress or sexualise women using their images without consent.

Letter To IT minister Seeks Immediate Intervention

In a formal letter to ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union minister for Information Technology, Chaturvedi demanded strict “guardrails” for AI chatbots.

She specifically highlighted AI tools like Grok, calling for safeguards to ensure women’s dignity and privacy are protected online.

Allegations Against Platform X And AI Features

The mp pointed to the Elon Musk-owned social media platform X, stating that fake accounts are misusing AI features to target women.

According to her, men are uploading women’s photos and prompting AI to minimise clothing or sexualise them.

She noted that this abuse is not limited to stolen images but also affects women who post their own photographs.

‘Unacceptable And Criminal’, Says MP

Chaturvedi termed this trend an “unacceptable and gross misuse” of AI technology.

She accused AI tools of enabling such behaviour by responding to inappropriate prompts.

The acts, she said, amount to a breach of women’s right to privacy and should be treated as criminal offences.

Call For Accountability And Education

The shiv sena (UBT) mp urged big tech companies to take responsibility and build safety mechanisms into their AI systems.

She also stressed the need for better education of boys and men from an early age to prevent such abusive behaviour in adulthood.

As a member of the Standing Committee on IT & Communication, Chaturvedi appealed to the government to take up the issue firmly with tech platforms.

She concluded that while india welcomes AI innovation, it cannot allow women’s dignity to be violated online under the guise of creativity and technology.
