The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is gearing up to launch a dedicated mobile application aimed at making access to Provident Fund (PF) money and related services faster, simpler, and more user‑friendly for subscribers across India. The app is expected to roll out by March–April 2026 as part of EPFO’s ongoing wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital transformation and service upgrade.

📱 1. UPI‑based PF Withdrawals

One of the biggest highlights of the new app will be the ability for EPF members to withdraw eligible PF amounts directly into their bank accounts via UPI (Unified Payments Interface). With this feature, subscribers won’t have to wait for long claim processing or follow complex procedures — instead, they can use their UPI ID and PIN to transfer funds quickly and securely.

💸 2. Withdrawable & Locked Balance Display

The app will clearly show two types of balances in the user’s PF account:

  • Eligible Balance: The portion of PF that can be withdrawn immediately via the app.
  • Locked Balance: A minimum portion (usually 25%) that remains locked until retirement or as per EPF rules.

This separation will help members easily understand how much they can withdraw at any time without confusion.

🧾 3. Auto‑Settlement of Claims Up to 5Lakh

The app will offer automatic claim settlement, where certain PF claims (like for education, medical treatment, housing, and marriage) up to 5lakh can be processed electronically and settled without manual intervention — often within a few days.

This is a significant improvement over older processes, which could take weeks.

📊 4. Easy Access to EPF Passbook & Balance

Subscribers will be able to view their EPF passbook and check balances directly in the app, rather than navigating through multiple portals. This offers a more intuitive and bank‑like experience.

🔐 5. Integrated Experience With UPI Platforms

The new app will be linked with major UPI platforms such as BHIM and other popular UPI apps, so members can complete transactions without switching between applications.

📍 Why the New App Matters

Currently, EPFO services are accessed mainly through the UMANG app and the UAN portal, which work but can be slower and less seamless for PF withdrawals. The dedicated EPFO app will offer a more streamlined and focused user experience designed specifically for PF services while keeping the existing platforms operational.

📅 When Will It Launch?

Officials indicate the new app will go live by March–April 2026, following pilot testing and final refinements. Once launched, it’s expected to significantly shorten the time it takes for members to access portions of their PF money — similar to how bank apps operate today.

This initiative is part of a broader effort under EPFO 3.0, which aims to modernise pension and PF services with digital‑first features backed by stronger automation and ease‑of‑use.
