In a recent interview, External Affairs minister S. Jaishankar stated that India supports the Global Mineral Security Alliance, an initiative aimed at promoting responsible and sustainable management of critical minerals worldwide.

He highlighted that countries such as Australia, Congo, and Indonesia are home to rare and valuable minerals that are vital for technology, energy, and industrial applications. By participating in the alliance, india seeks to strengthen cooperation on mineral security, supply chain stability, and sustainable extraction practices.

Jaishankar emphasized that India’s involvement reflects its commitment to responsible resource management and global collaboration on strategic mineral supplies. The alliance aims to ensure ethical sourcing, environmental protection, and equitable access to minerals essential for modern industries and green technologies.

Experts say India’s backing of the initiative will not only secure critical resources for its domestic industries but also enhance its strategic and economic partnerships with resource-rich countries across the globe.
