The Regional Meteorological Centre chennai has announced that heavy rain is likely to occur in six districts of tamil Nadu today due to prevailing atmospheric conditions.
According to the latest weather bulletin issued by the chennai Meteorological Centre, several parts of the state are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the next few hours. The warning has been issued as part of precautionary measures to ensure public safety and preparedness.
Six Districts Under Heavy Rain Warning
The weather department stated that heavy rainfall is likely in the following districts:
Nilgiris
Coimbatore
Theni
Tenkasi
Kanniyakumari
Tirunelveli
Officials said isolated places in these districts may experience intense spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.
Public Advised to Remain Cautious
Authorities have advised residents living in low-lying and hilly areas to remain alert, as heavy rainfall could lead to waterlogging, localized flooding, and traffic disruptions. Fishermen have also been cautioned about rough sea conditions in coastal regions.
People have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy showers and follow updates issued by district administrations and disaster management authorities.
Rainfall Expected in Several Other Areas
Apart from the six districts under heavy rain alert, light to moderate rainfall is also expected in many other parts of tamil Nadu, including chennai and surrounding districts.
Weather officials said the current conditions are being influenced by atmospheric circulation over the region, which is enhancing moisture flow across the state.
Monitoring Continues
The Meteorological Department continues to closely monitor weather developments and is expected to issue further updates depending on changes in rainfall intensity and movement of weather systems.
