Panic in Kakkalur as Stray Dog Goes on Biting Spree
More than 10 people were injured after a stray dog allegedly chased and attacked residents in the Kakkalur area of Tiruvallur on Sunday. The incident created panic among local residents as the dog reportedly ran through several streets, attacking people indiscriminately.
According to local sources, the stray dog aggressively chased pedestrians, sanitation workers, and passersby, biting several individuals within a short span of time. Residents said the attacks occurred suddenly, leaving many unable to escape.
Sanitation Worker Among the Victims
Among those injured was a sanitation worker who was on duty in the locality when the dog attacked. Several other victims, including men and women from the neighborhood, sustained bite injuries while attempting to flee from the animal.
Eyewitnesses stated that the dog appeared highly aggressive and continued to move around the area even after attacking multiple people, causing fear among the public.
Victims Admitted to Hospital
All the injured persons were rushed to nearby government and private hospitals for immediate medical treatment. Doctors reportedly provided first aid, anti-rabies injections, and other necessary treatment to prevent infection and complications.
Medical officials said the condition of the injured individuals is stable, though some suffered deep bite wounds.
Residents Demand Immediate Action
The repeated incidents involving stray dogs have once again raised concerns over public safety in residential areas of Tiruvallur. Residents of Kakkalur urged municipal authorities to take immediate measures to control the stray dog population and prevent similar attacks in the future.
People in the locality also demanded increased monitoring, sterilization drives, and quicker response from animal control teams whenever aggressive stray animals are reported.
