These days the politics of Karnataka does stand out for all the wrong reasons in the national media. The ruling party of the State does hold the national attention, at an amazing frequency for its inner qualms, corruption scandals and n-number of other negative reasons.
Now the turn of the nine Karnataka ministers who swear their loyalty to the ex-chief minister Yeddyurappa had come up. They have submitted their resignations and had put forth a charter of demands which includes the removal of the present chief minister Sadananda Gowda. This internecine feud looked like coming to an end with the central leadership of the BJP,intervening with the promise that it would look into the demands of these rebels....at the appropriate time. But the calm that prevailed after this promise of the central leadership turned out to be transient. The 9 ministers now had come forth with the deadline of July 5th for the replacement of the C.M.It is reported that a good number of MLA's had also joined this chorus now.
Sad for the Party aspiring to replace the UPA-2 at the centre, in the 2014 elections; that it is being held hostage so often by its very leaders. The Karnataka conundrum is putting the BJP central leadership in a tight corner on every issue, ranging from the anti-corruption crusade to the image of it as a ‘party with a difference.’
