A day after receiving approval for a loan of Rs 3 lakh, an auto-rickshaw driver who intended to work as a chef in malaysia won the Rs 25 crore onam bumper lottery in kerala on Sunday. Even more intriguing is the fact that the winning ticket, TJ 750605, was purchased on saturday by Anoop, a local of Sreevaraham. However, he told media representatives who were present at the agency where he had purchased the ticket that it was not his first choice.

He claimed that he did not like the first ticket he picked, so he went with another one that ended up winning. Anoop, who was overjoyed about the money and his trip to malaysia, said: "I told the bank when they contacted today about the loan that I no longer needed it. I also won't be travelling to Malaysia." He has been purchasing lottery tickets for the past 22 years and, according to Anoop, has previously won sums ranging from a few hundred to as much as Rs 5,000.

"I didn't watch the lotto results on tv because I didn't think I would win. However, I discovered that I had won when I looked at my phone. I showed my wife since I couldn't believe it. She claimed it was indeed the winning number "said he.
