Born in a poor Dalit family in Madipakkam, Chennai, sarath babu lived in a slum. Financially very weak, his family consisted of two elder sisters and two younger brothers. The responsibility of raising all these was on his mother. Sarath Babu's mother used to work as a mid-day meal maker in a school. With the help of the salary of Rs 30 per month, she was feeding her children somehow. However, this much money was not enough for a family of 6 people. 

Was fast in studies but…

Sarath Babu's mother wanted her children to study a lot, but it was difficult to feed them with their earnings, then studies are a long way off. But that mother did not lose courage, she used to do three things simultaneously to fulfill her dream. Sarath was also seeing this sacrifice and hard work of his mother. It had a profound effect on him. 

He was brilliant in studies. Sarath, who always came first in class, worked very hard till 10th standard. After 10th the bad financial condition tried his best to snatch the books from his hands. His mother was not able to collect the fees for further studies. In such a situation, even Sarath did not give up. He started doing book-binding work and from this he raised money for his studies till class XII. 

Keep moving forward on the basis of education  

Sarath's goal was not just to be literate. He had to get a good degree from a good institute so that he could get a good job and improve the fortunes of himself and his family. In such a situation, a friend of his told him about Birla Institute of technology and Science, BITS, Pilani in Pilani. He was told that getting admission here means that he will definitely get a good job.  

What was after this, Sarath united day and night to get admission in this college. His hard work day and night paid off and he got admission in BITS, Pilani. Here once again the fees became a hindrance in their path. For this his sister mortgaged her jewelry and paid her fees.

After taking a degree from BITS, Pilani, Sarath got a job at Polaris software Labs in his hometown Chennai. But, Sarath was not satisfied with this. He had to take admission in IIM and get a degree in management. In such a situation, while working, he started preparing for CAT exam for admission in IIM. Sarath failed twice but in the third attempt he passed the CAT exam.

After getting admission in IIM Ahmedabad, he got many job offers during his studies, whose salary package was in lakhs but Sarath wanted to do something big, not a job anymore. Sarath Babu, who considered Dhirubhai Ambani and Narayan Murthy as his idols, thought of getting into the food supply business with the inspiration of his mother. 

By arranging money in many ways, Sarath started his company in the year 2006 with one lakh rupees and got it registered in the name of Food king Catering services Private Limited. Initially, Sarath's company worked in the companies of supplying tea, coffee and snacks. His hard work paid off and gradually he started getting orders from new and big companies. In this way his business started growing. After this, he opened his restaurants in many places in india under the name Food king Catering.

Sarath Babu, born in a slum, is a successful personality today. He has been honored by the World bank for business skills and leadership. Taking inspiration from his mother, he overcame every difficulty in life. If he wanted, he could have taken a job of package of lakhs but he listened to his heart and succeeded.
