Former chief minister O. Panneer Selvam's mother Palaniammal passed away due to ill health. Following this, many political leaders including chief minister Stalin have expressed their condolences.

O. Panneerselvam is the former chief minister of tamil Nadu and held the post of deputy chief minister in the last regime of ADMK. His mother was Palaniammal Nachiyar. He was 95 years old. Palaniyammal, who had been in poor health for the past few days due to old age, died of natural causes last night. Her death caused great grief to O. Panneerselvam and his supporters. Many political party leaders are condoling the death of O. Panneerselvam's mother.

 In his obituary message, the leader and chief minister of tamil Nadu, M.K.Stalin said that he is deeply saddened to know that former chief minister O. Panneerselvam's mother Palaniammal has passed away due to ill health. He offers his deepest condolences to Panneerselvam who is bereaved of his beloved mother.

O. Panneerselvam immediately left chennai for Theni when he got the news of his mother's death. O. Panneerselvam was devastated when he saw his mother's body lying in Periyakulam, held his mother's leg, and burst into tears. On hearing the news of O. Panneerselvam's mother's death, O.P.S. Supporters immediately thronged his residence in Periyakulam. The public and volunteers continue to visit the body of O. Panneerselvam's mother in Periyakulam to pay their respects. Major political party leaders are expected to pay their respects in person today.
