The telugu desam party president N Chandrababu Naidu, a political challenger of ysr congress party president and andhra pradesh chief minister Y S jagan Mohan reddy, says holding early elections for the state assembly would be a grave mistake. On friday night, while participating in the second season of the well-known chat show "Unstoppable with NBK," which is hosted by his brother-in-law and veteran actor Nandamuri balakrishna on the Aha platform, Naidu made this admission.

When balakrishna questioned him about his biggest blunder, Naidu replied that calling early polls and dissolving the state assembly immediately after the Naxalites attacked him with a bomb at Alipiri. "I had assumed that assembly elections would take place right away once the state assembly was dissolved, but they were postponed. Development in the state had stopped as a result, and this had an effect on the party's performance in the elections, he claimed. Following his choice, according to Naidu, the previous prime minister A. B. Vajpayee also dissolved parliament in order to have early elections. S M krishna in karnataka and naveen patnaik in odisha both did the same.

But everyone of us had lost our individual elections, with the exception of Patnaik. That was the wrong thing to do, he said. Analysts disagree, claiming that Naidu would have lost the assembly elections whether there had been early voting or not. There are several causes for it. However, Naidu had lost a lot of support because of his anti-poor and pro-World bank policies, which included an unusual hike in power prices. Second, due of his padayatra and the promises he made, including providing free electricity to the agricultural sector, then-Congress leader Y S Rajasekhar reddy had garnered enormous support.
