UK prime minister Rishi Sunak announced on wednesday that he will attend the COP27 climate summit in order to "create a safe and sustainable future," reversing his earlier decision to not go. "There is no long-term prosperity without action on climate change," he said on twitter on wednesday to announce his attendance at the climate summit. Without spending on renewable energy sources, there is no energy security. I'm going to COP27P next week in order to carry on Glasgow's legacy of constructing a secure and sustainable future.

Egypt will host the COP27 climate summit the following week. Sunak had already stated that he was unable to attend the climate summit because of his attention to the budget for november 17 and the local economy. Environmentalists and climate activists roundly denounced Sunak's decision. Alok Sharma, a climate consultant, has also criticised Sunak for skipping the climate summit. The 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, in 2021, with UK cabinet member Alok Sharma serving as its chairman.

There is a new prime minister in the UK. Rishi Sunak, 42, wrote history with numerous firsts and got both praise and criticism. He was the first person of indian descent, a person of colour, and the youngest british prime minister in 200 years. He serves as Britain's 57th prime minister.
