A minor bollywood actor and his wife were detained by Cyberabad police on monday for allegedly defrauding people of large sums of money under the pretence of offering them a part in advertising campaigns. Apurva Ashwin, also known as Armaan arjun Kapoor, and his Maharashtrian wife Natasha Kapoor, also known as Nazish Memon, were identified as the arrested individuals. According to police investigations, they defrauded a couple out of Rs 14.12 lakhs by falsely offering to provide their daughter a part in a biscuit company promotional advertisement.

Memon introduced herself as a representative of a modelling agency when she first visited the victim's relatives in december at a mall in Kondapur. She asked the couple if they would be interested in having their daughter appear in a tv commercial as a model. Memon persuaded them by claiming that children are chosen for modelling in television commercials and picture shoots for brand-related promotions. She assured them that the young people would have the chance to work with well-known actors and actresses. To persuade the couple, the con artists put on a ramp display in the mall and informed them that their daughter had been chosen for the shoot of an advertisement for a significant biscuit brand.

According to the police, the couple was initially requested to give a refundable caution fee of Rs 3.25 lakhs. Later, under the guise of a picture shoot, he obtained another Rs 10.87 lakhs from them. The con artists asked their victims to send money to the accounts of dealers in rajasthan using whatsapp and a well-maintained website. Along with a laptop and four mobile phones, the police took from him Rs. 15.60 lakh. The mumbai police detained Apurva in connection with related incidents. police in Cyberabad have filed four complaints against him.
