The Palestinian health Ministry announced on tuesday that over 5,000 people had died in Gaza as a result of two weeks of airstrikes, as the Israel-Hamas conflict reached its 17th day. 1400 people have died in israel so far, and more than 200 hostages were abducted during the attack on october 7. There have been 6,400 deaths overall.

Two Israeli women who were among the more than 200 captives held captive since the battle began on october 7 were freed, according to a statement released by Hamas on Monday. Ministers are on their way to New York, where the united states is pressing for the passage of a resolution denouncing violence against civilians and assaults by Hamas in israel, but also affirming Israel's right to self-defense.
