A senior US official stated in Beirut on tuesday that Washington opposes the current Gaza conflict spreading to Lebanon, following the burial of a Lebanese widow and her three grandchildren who were killed in an Israeli attack two days earlier. Amos Hochstein, a senior advisor to US President Joe Biden, made these remarks while in Beirut on an unexpected visit to talk with the speaker of the parliament and the acting prime minister about the tense situation.

Following his discussion with parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Hochstein told reporters that it is of "utmost importance" to bring peace back to Lebanon's southern border.

As the Israel-Hamas conflict began on october 7, fighters from the terrorist group Hezbollah and their supporters have been engaging in gunfire with Israeli soldiers along the Lebanon-Israel border for about a month. Hochstein said he was aware of Berri's worries regarding these tensions.

In a succinct statement, Hochstein stated, "The united states does not want to see conflict in Gaza escalating and expanding into Lebanon." Journalists did not pose questions to him.

Hochstein made these remarks on tuesday during a firefight between the Israeli military and Hezbollah, which israel said was in retaliation for israel striking one of its outposts near the Lebanese border. Since Israel's ground invasion into Gaza to combat Hezbollah's allies, the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, the border skirmishes have been more intense.

The lady and her three grandkids were killed on sunday when an Israeli drone struck a civilian automobile. One person was killed as Hezbollah launched rockets into the Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona in the north as payback.

Hundreds of men and women marched in the border community of Blida in the south before the four caskets, which were covered in black and white flags, were moved on tuesday to be buried at the nearby cemetery.

The cemetery in the southeast town of Blida had large posters of Samira Abdul-Hussein Ayoub and her three grandchildren, Rimas Shor, 14, Talin Shor, 12, and Layan Shor, 10. Hoda Hijazi, the mother of the three daughters, was hurt in the incident and is currently receiving medical attention in a hospital.

Officials from Hezbollah have threatened to attack civilian targets in retaliation if israel kills civilians in Lebanon.

During the burial, Hezbollah politician ali Fayad stated, "A major pillar of the rules of engagement with the enemy is protecting civilians."

Israel believes that Hezbollah possesses some 150,000 rockets and missiles directed at israel and views the Iran-backed Shiite militant organization as its greatest current danger. Additionally, the group possesses several drone and surface-to-sea missile kinds.
