Telangana's congress administration has promised to implement the programs — LPG cylinders for Rs 500 and Rs 500 more per quintal to farmers for paddy procurement — within 100 days, according to minister for Civil Supplies N Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Following a review conference with top department officials, reddy informed reporters that the civil supply corporation's total debts had reached Rs 56,000 crore due to the previous BRS government's failure to offer financial assistance, and the interest component had reached Rs 3,000 crore.

He went on to say that the corporation's 8.8 million tonnes of paddy, worth Rs 18,000 crore, is sitting with millers with no security or bank guarantee from them.

Reddy stated that the matter would be reviewed with the chief minister and suitable action would be taken in the cabinet.

"There were systemic deficiencies during the past nine and half years (of BRS rule)," reddy said in a statement.

The minister stated that grains distributed through the Public Distribution System should reach all relevant recipients because the state and the Centre pay Rs 39 per kilogram of rice distributed to persons living below the poverty line. Stay tuned for more updates.
