Three MLAs voted for the tdp candidate in the mla quota MLC elections held in march of this year. Panchumarthi Anuradha of the tdp was elected as an MLC despite her party's lack of support. Cross-voters for the party include anam ramanarayana reddy (Venkatagiri assembly Constituency), Mekapati chandrasekhar reddy (Udayagiri assembly Constituency), kotamreddy sridhar reddy (Nellore Rural assembly Constituency), and Vundvalli sridevi (Tadikonda assembly Constituency). The ysr congress was forced to expel them from the party. The party sought to minimize the mutiny at the time, claiming that candidates do not matter in the ysr Congress.

"In the 2019 elections, the ysr congress won 151 seats." The candidates were not elected. They just voted for the Fan sign after watching jagan Mohan Reddy. jagan is a contender for all 175 seats. A similar scenario will play out in 2024. Candidates are mostly irrelevant. So MLAs quitting the party don't matter," they stated bravely. But then, in less than a year, everything changed. We suddenly witness jagan Mohan reddy shifting party in-charges and discussing caste issues. Eleven in-charges have been replaced, and there are indications that candidates in around 100 seats will be replaced.

From the stage of 'candidates don't matter, jagan will bring votes,' the ysr congress has progressed to the point when candidates must be replaced. That in itself demonstrates jagan Mohan Reddy's strong anti-incumbency and the frantic tactics the chief minister is attempting to preserve face in 2024.
