In Thalambur, near Kelambakkam, on the southern outskirts of chennai, a software engineer was beaten, maimed, and set ablaze on her birthday eve, according to authorities. One of the victim's schoolmates, R Nandhini, who would have turned 26 on april 26, killed her after undergoing a sex exchange to become her husband.
For the murder of Nandhini, police detained vetrimaran, an MBA graduate who was Pandi Murugeshwari prior to having a sex change. They had a good bond in addition to attending the same girl's school in Madurai. vetrimaran persuaded Nandhini to accept his propositions several times, but Nandhini refused, which caused a rift between them. According to a Times of india article, the two continued to communicate despite everything.
Following her completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in computer technology, Nandhini moved to chennai eight months ago to take a job offer and live with her uncle. On Saturday, Nandhini received a call from the transsexual man asking her to hang out with him. When the two first met, the accused allegedly gave her new clothes, escorted her to an orphanage close to Tambaram, and made a donation.
He insisted on taking her back to her house, making a halt at a desolate location in Ponmar along the route. In that desolate spot, vetrimaran invited Nandhini to pose for photos. Then, after promising her it was only for fun, he took the chains off his bike and tied her hands and feet.
Later, in spite of Nandhini's pleas, he refused to let her go. He took a knife and cut her arms and neck, then doused her in gasoline and let her burn.
After perpetrating the crime, he left the scene, according to the police. Locals discovered Nandhini fighting for her life after a while and alerted the authorities. She had given them Vetrimaran's number to contact before she passed out. He went down to the crime scene after the police called and introduced himself as Nandhini's buddy. He even accompanied the locals and the police squad when he brought Nandhini to the government hospital in Chromepet.
Late on Saturday, Nandhini passed away from her wounds; however, vetrimaran had not been seen since. On Sunday, police found him and took him into custody. vetrimaran was calm and showed no regret for his acts, according to one of the investigating officers. He claimed to be angry because Nandhini would not pursue a relationship with him in his police statement. A few years ago, vetrimaran underwent a sex-change procedure at a private hospital; nevertheless, Nandhini informed him that they would never work together.
