The decision by the election commission to remove Kolli Raghurami reddy, an IPS officer, from the state has rocked Andhra Pradesh's political establishment. reddy, who is well-known for his strong ties to the YSRCP and his broad authority to target the opposition, was recently reassigned as an election police Observer to Assam, which is a noteworthy event.

Reddy's move occurred at a time when significant records in the SIT office under his supervision were set on fire, which begs the issue of whether he was aware that he would be moving soon. There is conjecture that the records were disposed of as a safety precaution due to worries about possible consequences while he was away. Historically, the election commission has overseen elections with the use of general observers and expenditure observers. Reddy's nomination to the role of police observer for 10 Assamese assembly seats, however, is a change from the usual. reddy, who is based in Guwahati, will now carry out his work in a separate state.

Since the latter took office, Reddy's tight relationship with chief minister Jaganmohan reddy has been apparent. reddy is in charge of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is entrusted with looking into capital land issues and making high-profile arrests, such as the one of former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu in the "Skill" case.

Reddy's recent inspections of tdp leader P. Narayana's home and college have also intensified claims of deliberate harassment against the opposition. As a major blow to Jaganmohan Reddy's government, the election Commission's decision to remove reddy from his powerful position in andhra pradesh may prevent future political maneuvering and harassment of opposition individuals.
