Thailand's first ever Olympic gold medalist sent to jail..!?

That is how a person named Somrak Kamsing won the gold medal in the featherweight boxing competition at the 1996 Atlanta olympics in Thailand.  In this environment, as much as Somrak Kamsing reached the peak of his life, he also saw a decline at the age of 52. In 2023, a complaint was filed that Somrak Kamsing had sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl after drinking alcohol, in line with the saying that alcohol turns a person into an animal. The police investigated the girl's complaint in this regard. The investigation took place over the past one and a half years. It was revealed that the complainant had been with Somrak Kamsing all night. Following this, the Khon Kaen Provincial Court, which investigated the matter, confirmed that Somrak Kamsing had kidnapped and sexually assaulted the girl. Taking this into account, Somrak Kamsing was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of 4 lakh 32 thousand indian rupees. This has caused a huge stir in Thailand. The incident of someone who made a name for himself in the olympics doing this has saddened the fans of the country. It is also noteworthy that Somrak Kamsing won gold medals not only in the olympics but also in various series, including the Asian Games.
