After two consecutive failures with Liger and Double iSmart, director puri jagannadh is hoping for a hit this time.  He worked on an intriguing project with Makkal Selvan vijay sethupathi to break his dry period.  The film, Beggar, is already causing a stir just by virtue of its title.  There is a ton of storytelling possibilities if the rumors are accurate and vijay sethupathi is indeed portraying a beggar.  Tabu and radhika apte give the cast even more weight. 

Puri jagan is renowned for creating realistic hero figures and for utilizing the darker aspects of society to create heroes who struggle for their position of power.  Remarkably, puri Jagannath plans to complete the project in two months and has pan-India as its goal.
 
As expected, puri wants the movie finished in 60 days, and vijay sethupathi is also in favor of a quick shoot.  According to reports, vijay sethupathi set aside a number of dates for the movie and expects it will enhance his body of work.  The bulk of the film's shooting is taking place on a slum set, which is now being constructed.

The hype is genuine, but the true question is whether puri can resurrect his former enthusiasm and produce a picture that successfully combines mass moments with profundity. Beggar, starring Vijay Sethupathi, could be the redemption story puri has been waiting for.
