Jake Schreier's Marvel movie Thunderbolts is scheduled to open in india on May 1.  The movie had to undergo trims in order to receive a U/A 13+ certificate, making it 127 minutes long.  After the film complied with the five-word edit, CBFC granted it its certificate on april 23. The board disapproved of the following terms: "a**," "a**hole," "d**ks," "b***h," and "prick."

The telugu thriller HIT 3, starring nani and Prashanti Tipirneni, is also scheduled for a nationwide release on May 1.  The treatment of this movie was considerably worse than that of Thunderbolts. In many locations, words like "f**k and ch***a" were scarce and subdued. The movie obtained an A certificate in spite of extensive censorship including both audio and visual cuts.

While Nani's HIT 3 is obviously intended for an adult audience, fans believe that Marvel's appeal to youngsters and young people may be the cause for its U/A 13+ certification. Despite the CBFC's comparable treatment, it would be interesting to see which movie dominates the indian public this weekend. Marvel Studios have promoted 'Thunderbolts' extensively in india and they hope to bounce back with a bang.
