Delhi high court grants stay on copyright infringement case against music director A.R. Rahman. It is known that A.R. rahman is facing allegations regarding music rights. In this regard, a single judge has issued interim orders imposing a fine of Rs. 2 crore on rahman and the film production company. The delhi high court bench admitted the petition filed by rahman challenging this and granted an interim stay on the single judge's verdict. The hearing was then adjourned to the 23rd of this month. rahman is facing a copyright case regarding the song 'Veera raja Veera' from `Ponniyan Selvan 2'. padma shri recipient and indian classical singer Fayaz Wasipuddin Thakur filed a copyright petition against rahman in the delhi high court in 2023.
The petitioner alleged that the song `Veera raja Veera` was copied from the song `Shiva Stuti` sung by his father, Nazir Fayazuddin Thakur, and his uncle, Zaheeruddin Thakur. Fayaz Vasi Puddin requested the court to order rahman and madras Talkies not to use the song anywhere and to pay compensation under the Copyright Act. rahman also filed a counter to this. The delhi high court, which examined the petition, ordered the Registrar to pay Rs 2 crore and the petitioner to pay Rs 2 lakh. It seems that a stay has been imposed on those payments. The hearing was then adjourned to the 23rd of this month.
