Jessica Jones' official return for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is a huge announcement for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This means that the MCU will have the opportunity to fulfill one of the greatest friendships in comics by bringing Jessica and Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers, together on screen soon.
 
Fans of Marvel Comics are aware that Jessica Jones and Carol Danvers have a strong affinity in Marvel mythology, and even if their movie equivalents may eventually cross paths in rather different situations, a friendship like to that one could still form.

This would not only mirror the well-known relationship between the two characters on the page, but it would also fulfill fans' demands for stronger female friendships in the MCU, which has occasionally placed a strong emphasis on male bonding.  With the cinematic adaptation of their story emphasizing the development of their friendship, Jessica and Carol have the potential to change that.

Krysten Ritter Is Back, But Brie Larson's Marvel Future Is Unclear

Even while it seems implausible even a few years ago, everything about MCU plans for Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones beyond Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is now only conjecture, but it does at least pave the way for her further incorporation into the studio's film plans. Since Ritter's portrayal of the hero is still widely admired by fans and Jones is a beloved character, there is a great desire to see how she will do in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. 

Similarly, Brie Larson's Captain Marvel's future in the MCU is still up in the air, as her participation in the next Avengers movies is still questionable.  The question is whether the performer and studio can agree on her comeback and, if so, how she fits into the next Phase. Fans, like Jessica Jones, want to see Larson remain as Carol Danvers in the MCU.  If nothing else, the possibility of developing a close on-screen bond with Jessica Jones would provide Captain Marvel with a personal storyline for upcoming appearances.
