On suspicion of having an extramarital affair, a man in bihar was jailed for abusing his wife severely and confining her in a room for two days. The woman has accused her spouse of burning her thighs with a hot iron and putting chili peppers in her intimate areas.
 
The victim's statement indicated that the abuse continued. She said that her 40-year-old husband, Shatrughan Rai, even attempted to electrocute her and kept her in a room for two days without food or drink. The incident took place in the muzaffarpur district of bihar on june 13.  The woman said that the neighbors did not rescue her despite her excruciating cries because they were afraid.  Only on june 15th, when her brother visited her home, was she saved.
 
The Paroo Primary health Centre (PHC) was where she was first taken by ambulance.  Doctors referred her to Shree krishna Medical college and Hospital (SKMCH) because of the severity of her injuries.

'IN-LAWS THREATENED TO KILL ME'
The woman filed a formal complaint on june 16 against her husband, pushpa Devi (26), brother-in-law Sumesh Rai (30), and mother-in-law Dukhni Devi (45).  The other members were fleeing as her spouse was quickly taken into custody.
 
"This is a very serious case. Physical assault and domestic violence-related charges have been filed. The remaining suspects are being arrested through raids, senior police official ram Vinay Kumar told india Today.
 
The woman told india Today that the trauma started earlier this year when she was accused of infidelity by her husband and his relatives.  The woman and her spouse have three children together and have been married for ten years.

"My husband and his family have been suspecting me for the past six months.  They threatened to kill me when I volunteered to take a medical test to verify my innocence.  Then, she claimed, "They did things that even animals wouldn't do." The police have promised her that the woman will get all the assistance she needs and that the offenders will not be spared.
