Israel has claimed that the IDF has attacked Iran's largest port Bandar abbas on saturday night (21 june 2025). Iran's Navy headquarters operates from this port. In this attack, explosions took place in main areas like Shahid Rajai Port, Bandar Langeh Port and shahid Bahonar Pier. Israel's aim of attacking here was to destroy the military base. According to news agency Tasnim, the air defense system was active when the attack took place here.

Drone warfare strategy and widespread attacks

IDF spokesman Brigadier-General Efi Defrin said that the Israeli air Force (IAF) systematically targeted Iran's drone command chain, destroying about 950 explosive drones before they were launched. These drones included dangerous UAVs like Shahid-136. This attack by israel was in response to dozens of drones being launched from iran towards Israeli territory on friday night (20 june 2025).

Israel attacked with 30 fighter jets

From morning to night on saturday, the IAF carried out airstrikes on several key targets in central and southwestern Iran. Military targets were targeted with the help of more than 30 fighter jets in the Ahvaz region. The IRGC-controlled Fars news Agency has confirmed that explosions were heard in Mahshahr, Ahvaz and other areas after the attacks. Apart from this, sounds of explosions have also been reported in cities like Marvdasht, Tabriz, Kermanshah, Isfahan.

Blasts also took place at shahid Rajai Port in April

It is important to note that in late april also a major explosion took place at the same port in which more than 60 people were killed and more than 700 were injured. israel denied responsibility for that incident, but according to KAN news, the port was being used by IRGC-Quds Force Unit 190 to smuggle weapons to Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Israel claims - an IRGC commander was killed

On saturday morning, the Israeli army killed IRGC-QF Unit 190 commander Behnam Shahriari in a separate operation, giving a clear indication that israel is now directly taking action against Iran's military structure and smuggling network.
