The appointment of Vikas Barala, the son of bjp rajya sabha mp Subhash Barala, as the Assistant Advocate General (AAG) of haryana has caused controversy and raised questions. In a well-known 2017 stalking and attempted kidnapping case involving Varnika Kundu, the daughter of haryana IAS officer VS Kundu, Vikas Barala is charged. The event happened on the evening of august 4, 2017.

The complainant claims that as she was driving home, Vikas Barala and his companion ashish attempted to obstruct her route, convince her, and reportedly tried to get inside her car.  Charges of attempted abduction were added after the two were first booked under Section 354D (stalking) and other sections.  Vikas was imprisoned for more than five months after charges were formally filed in October.

The chandigarh local court is still hearing the matter.

Varnika Kundu told india Today over the phone, "I believe the appropriate authorities that appointed Vikas Barala can respond to questions regarding his appointment.  They are all knowledgeable individuals who can respond to this appointment.

"I would say that I have faith in the judiciary in regards to my case, but it has been eight years.  The matter has also lost a lot of attention," she continued.

Aditya Devilal, an INLD MLA, has questioned Barala's nomination as Haryana's assistant advocate general.  "How is haryana represented by someone who is on trial in a criminal case?  "What's the point of requesting applications if the Law office makes these appointments?" he said.

On the other hand, haryana Minister Ranbir Gangwa defended Vikas Barala's appointment, claiming that it was made fairly.

In this instance, a committee was established, and Vikas was only appointed following a thorough investigation.  How can the congress discuss recommendations or nepotism?  "No consideration has been given to his dismissal," he stated.

Haryana's legal cell in delhi is represented by seven law enforcement officials, including Barala.  To represent the state before the punjab and haryana High court in chandigarh and delhi, 96 law officers have been recruited, including Additional Advocate Generals, Senior Deputy Advocate Generals, Deputy Advocate Generals, and Assistant Advocate Generals.
