At Lumbini Park, a few metres from the state office, another 12 people were murdered and 21 were injured in an open-air drama. police discovered as many as 19 unexploded explosives a day after the blasts.
The bombings were planned by the indian Mujahideen terrorist organisation. In this instance, the Charlapalli Special court has condemned two terrorists to death. Anik Shafiq Syed and Akbar Ismail Chowdhury were sentenced to death by the court. Tariq Anjum was given a life sentence for his role in the bombing. There is considerable criticism that the death sentence has not been applied three years after it was imposed. Still many victims are waiting for the accused to hanged. The victims asked that the defendants be executed as soon as possible. Even after 14 years, the victims received no assistance.
