This is not only a brilliant cyber action, but also a warning to the general public that the fraudsters of the wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital age are now emptying pockets by resorting to fear.
Some unknown people called the senior doctor living in Vile Parle on video call and introduced themselves as TRAI officers, policemen and judges. They falsely claimed that the doctor's bank account is linked to the naresh Goyal case and he will soon be "digitally arrested". In a state of fear and stress, the doctor transferred Rs 2.89 crore in five installments between june 2 and june 4, 2025 to the accounts mentioned by the fraudsters.
Quick action by 1930 helpline
As soon as the doctor filed a complaint on 1930 on june 4, the crime branch team took immediate action. The team of police sub-inspector Mangesh Bhor, Nivriti Bawaskar, constable Abhijeet Raul, constable kiran Patil, lady police constable Meenal Rane and Sonali Kakkad registered a case on the NCRP portal and immediately contacted the nodal officers of the concerned banks and got the fraudsters' accounts frozen.
Result: Rs 1.29 crore out of Rs 2.89 crore was saved.

• No government agency, police or cbi threatens arrest through video call.
• If someone says that drugs have been found in the parcel or there is a warrant in your name — first verify, then take action.
