Nearly 7 Lakh Candidates Appear for Civil services Preliminary Exam

The Union Public service Commission (UPSC) has commenced the Civil services Preliminary Examination for recruitment to prestigious central government services, including the indian Administrative service (IAS), indian Police service (IPS), and indian Revenue service (IRS).

The examination is being conducted across various centres throughout india, with nearly 7 lakh candidates appearing this year. The highly competitive examination is considered one of the toughest recruitment tests in the country and serves as the gateway to top administrative positions in the indian government.

Examination Held Under Tight Security

Authorities have made extensive arrangements to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the examination. Security measures have been strengthened at examination centres, and candidates were instructed to arrive well in advance to complete verification procedures.

Electronic gadgets, smart devices, and other prohibited items were not allowed inside the examination halls. Officials also deployed additional personnel to manage crowds and maintain order at major centres.

Two Papers Conducted in Preliminary Stage

The UPSC Preliminary Examination consists of two objective-type papers:

  • General Studies Paper-I
  • Civil services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Paper-II

The marks obtained in General Studies Paper-I are considered for qualification to the next stage, while the CSAT paper is qualifying in nature.

Candidates who clear the preliminary examination will become eligible to appear for the UPSC Main Examination, followed by the personality test/interview.

Dream of Lakhs of Aspirants

Every year, lakhs of aspirants from across the country prepare extensively for the UPSC Civil services Examination with the dream of serving in key administrative roles. Coaching centres, libraries, and study circles in major cities witnessed heightened activity in the days leading up to the exam.

Many candidates expressed confidence after completing the examination, while others described the paper as moderately challenging.

Results Expected in the Coming Weeks

UPSC is expected to release the preliminary examination results in the coming weeks on its official website. Candidates who qualify will then begin preparations for the mains examination, which is scheduled to be held later this year.

The Civil services Examination remains one of the most respected and sought-after career opportunities in india, attracting graduates from diverse educational and professional backgrounds every year.
