September 11, 2001. Four U.S. planes were hijacked by 19 members of the Al Qaeda terrorist organization. Two flights crashed into the Twin Towers and into the Pentagon, the US military headquarters in Washington. A fourth plane lost control and crashed into the ground in a clearing in Pennsylvania. More than 3,000 people were killed in the attacks. These include people from more than 80 countries, from various religions, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Such an attack on the united states, which is technically and economically omnipotent, has shaken not only the united states but the world. The demolition of the Twin Towers became one of the tragic signs of the 21st century, as did World war I and World war II in the 20th century.
But after this attack, hatred against Muslims around the world increased. The united states announced the start of the war on terror in the aftermath of the september 11 attacks. But it turned out not only to be a war on terror but also a war on Islamists.
Twenty years in Afghanistan
Bin laden, who was responsible for the attack, was sheltered by the ruling Taliban in Afghanistan. The united states has asked the Taliban to extradite Bin Laden. But the Taliban refused. In 2011, Osama bin laden was killed by US forces in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Following that, US forces began to gradually withdraw from Afghanistan. However, it has taken 10 years to fully exit.
Islamophobia
In the aftermath of the Twin Towers attack, the united states created a department called the 'Department of Homeland Security to crack down on Muslims in the United States. More than a thousand American Muslims were imprisoned. As an extension of this, various countries began to impose restrictions so that Muslims could not freely practise their religious beliefs. In the 20 years since the Twin Towers attack, there has been unreasonable fear and hatred of Muslims around the world.
Responsibility for Muslims
It was during this period that the 'Islamic Revolution' took place in iran and the religious fundamentalist group ruled Iran. These are not the manifestation or purpose of individual Muslims: they are the consequences of the rise of Islamic extremists politically and ideologically.
Religious bigotry is present in all religions. If he deviates from his policy that mania will not leave even his own brother. pakistan has witnessed the highest number of terrorist attacks in the last 20 years. The worst terrorist attack so far has been on Muslims. At present, it is the Muslims who fear the Taliban rule in Afghanistan.
We can justify the fact that Muslims are oppressed in comparison to different religions and cultures worldwide. But doesn't it matter how democratic a Muslim is in himself? We must once again ask what is the side of an ordinary Muslim regarding the persecution of other religions in Muslim countries and what is the reaction of an ordinary Muslim if a Muslim woman does not want to wear a burqa. Previously women were forced to wear burqas only after reaching adulthood. But now the five-year-old is wearing a burqa. What justice are we going to give to all this?
We must first confront the criticism that the Muslim community is moving away from the public sphere. We need to understand that the austerity found in one community can cause discomfort to another community. Our religion, our right, cannot be left alone. It is always necessary to take extra care in some way and interact with the general community.
The Muslim community is in a position to improve itself in terms of incorporating itself into the public discourse past religion, political participation, and female education. We cannot escape blaming Western countries alone for Islamophobia!
