July 18, 1974 was a real tragedy for the telugu film industry. That was the day Viswa Nata Chakravarthi Rangarao died with heart attack. After his first stroke in february and treatment, he came to chennai and confined to the house. At that time, Rangarao got the opportunity to act in the film 'Yashodakrishna' for the role of Kansu in it. Rangarao went to mysore and took part in the shooting of the film. Outdoor shooting damaged his health. However, Rangarao did not stay at home and continued to attend shootings.

As for July 18, he was at home whole day, had lunch and slept for a while.  He got up at four in the evening and went to the bathroom and fell on the bed while getting dressed. Personal doctor did not get the pulse and called cardiac specialist. They came and confirmed that he was dead.
When the news of Rangarao's death came into light, film maker Ramanayudu and director V.  Madhusudanarao reached his home. His final journey scenes were shot by photographer Devaraj. His last film 'Yashodakrishna' and funeral scenes were shown in theaters. Despite earning endless fame he was left with the misery of not getting the recognition he deserved in the country.
