Ruben Fleischer, the director of Zombieland: Double Tap, speaks about a possible Zombieland 3 set 10 years after Zombieland: Double Tap. Zombieland is a 2009 film directed by Fleischer (Venom) and scripted by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool). It follows a nerdy college student turned nerdy zombie killer as he travels across a post-apocalyptic United States, thriving thanks to his rigid accordance with a set of rules.

He meets three individuals along the road, all of whom are on the lookout for a safe haven from the zombies. Jesse Eisenberg played Columbus, Woody Harrelson played Tallahassee, Emma Stone played Wichita, and Abigail Breslin played Little Rock in the movie. Zombieland earned over $100 million worldwide on a small $23 million budget, surpassing Dawn of the Dead as the highest-grossing zombie picture and likely resetting popular culture's fixation with reanimated corpses.

The original cast returned for Zombieland: Double Tap almost exactly ten years later. Despite the fact that it was not as new, the sequel outperformed its predecessor at the box office, grossing $122 million. Although sony hasn't rushed a third instalment, the box office statistics are strong enough to justify Zombieland 3.
