Warner Bros. Discovery's plans for Justice League 2 have been altered as a result of james Gunn's appointment as one of the CEOs of DC Studios. Despite other franchises in the universe moving forward, the Justice League hasn't appeared as a unit on the big screen in the DC Universe (formerly known as the DCEU) since 2017. Even though Zack Snyder's Justice League cut was eventually shown on HBO Max, the larger DC Universe does not view that version of the movie as canon. Instead, the Snyder Cut's existence in its own continuity was established in the past.

The hollywood Reporter claims that the studio's plans for Justice League 2 have been altered as a result of Gunn's hire. According to a recent claim by the trade, Michael De Luca and pamela Abdy of Warner Bros. Pictures desired at least one more film including the seasoned Justice League actors. But that was before Gunn and Safran started putting their uncertain 10-year plan for the DC Universe (DCU) together. No one from the studio, including Gunn, Safran, or anybody else, has commented on the tale.

Since the first story made no mention of a creative team, it is currently unknown who would have written or directed Justice League 2. Since the studio still regards Joss Whedon's Justice League as canon for the DC Universe, they would have had to base their work on that film and everything that came after it since 2017. DC Studios may very well want to distance themselves from the 2017 box office and critical bomb, even though Whedon's cut has been regarded as canon for a number of years. Who would have most likely been in the cast of Justice League 2 is simpler to predict.

Superman, played by Henry Cavill, recently made a comeback in the DC Universe, thus it's quite likely that he would have been one of the main attractions. Other characters that would likely be included in it include Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and whoever assumes the role of Batman following the events of The Flash. Following their numerous legal difficulties in 2022, it's uncertain whether Ezra Miller would have continued to play Barry Allen in the films as The Flash. Given that Walter Hamada and the previous administration have left the company, Justice League 2 may also have been the movie in which Shazam, played by Zachary Levi, joins the team for the first time. Ray Fisher's Cyborg may have also made a cameo appearance.
