More than a decade after Son of Sardaar galloped into theatres with its unapologetically over-the-top action and punjabi swag, ajay devgn returns with Son of Sardaar 2. Was anyone really waiting for this sequel? Probably not. But here it is – loud, goofy, and surprisingly harmless in its intentions.

Directed with a clear aim to entertain rather than innovate, Son of Sardaar 2 sticks to the familiar template: punchlines, punches, and plenty of pagdi-swagger. Devgn reprises his role as the brawny but big-hearted Jassi, who finds himself embroiled once again in a family feud laced with comic misunderstandings and old vendettas. The plot is paper-thin, hinging on accidental love, exaggerated rivalries, and the inevitable climax where fists fly and family values triumph.

Joining Devgn is a new ensemble cast, including a spunky female lead and a few fresh comic sidekicks. While the narrative barely evolves from the 2012 original, the film does benefit from updated production value – slicker action sequences, flashier song-and-dance numbers, and brighter visuals.

That said, the film isn't without its flaws. The humour often feels dated, the jokes sometimes land with a thud, and the emotional moments lack depth. But credit where it’s due: Son of Sardaar 2 never pretends to be more than what it is – a masala entertainer meant for fans of old-school bollywood mayhem.

In a cinema landscape now dominated by high-concept thrillers and nuanced storytelling, Son of Sardaar 2 feels like a throwback – cheerfully silly, occasionally cringe, but mostly harmless. If you're in the mood for slapstick, slow-motion stunts, and some Desi-style laughter, this sequel might just surprise you.
