Bollywood superstar salman khan has been served a notice by the Kota Consumer Court regarding allegedly misleading advertisements for a pan masala brand.
The notice follows a complaint filed against Khan and the company that produces the product.
Complaint Details
The complaint was filed by bjp leader and rajasthan High court advocate Inder Mohan Singh Honey.
The petition alleges that the makers of Rajshree Pan masala and salman khan ran deceptive advertisements.
Ads claim the product is “saffron-infused cardamom” and “saffron-infused pan masala”, which the petitioner argues is misleading.
Allegations
The petitioner stated that saffron, priced around ₹4 lakh per kilogram, cannot be an ingredient in a product sold for just ₹5 per packet.
The complaint alleges that the campaign encourages youth to consume pan masala.
Pan masala consumption is linked to mouth cancer, raising health concerns.
Inder Mohan Singh Honey emphasized:
Salman Khan is a role model for many.
Celebrities in other countries do not promote harmful substances, such as tobacco or pan masala.
The advertisements could send the wrong message to young audiences.
Court Proceedings
The Kota Consumer court has issued a notice seeking a formal response from both salman khan and the manufacturing company.
The next hearing is scheduled for november 27, 2025.
Salman Khan has appeared in advertisements for Rajshree Elaichi, a product by the same company, but has reportedly not promoted the pan masala variant directly.
Key Takeaways
The case highlights the responsibility of celebrities when endorsing products with health risks.
Legal scrutiny of misleading advertising claims is increasing in India, especially when youth and public health are involved.
The court's decision could impact celebrity endorsements and marketing of pan masala products in the future.
