Telangana is bracing for virtual showdown as ruling TRS is facing 'Liberation Day' tensions as Sep 17 is fast approaching. While the ruling TRS headed by CM KCR has been celebrating the Sep 17 silently by hoisting the national tri color, without uttering a word whether it is 'Merger Day' or 'Liberation Day', BJP for long has been demanding to celebrate the day as "liberation of Hyderabad State" .
BJP is planning celebrate the day even more grander this time with its national president Amit Shah all set to address huge public rally in Warangal. Hyderabad State was liberated from the clutches of Nizam rule on Sep 17,1948 and merged with Indian Union following police action.
Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu recently said during Nizam rule,Telugu language was discouraged and asked Telangana Government headed by KCR to celebrate the day as Liberation Day. Karimnagar MP, Vinod Kumar says the party wanted to build a consensus on whether it should be called as Merger Day or Liberation Day.
He said his party is not against BJP celebrating it as Liberation Day. TRS is experiencing jitters as BJP is getting ready to celebrate Liberation Day in a never seen before manner. K. Lakshman, BJP president,Telangana state said “We are going to celebrate the Liberation Day from the rule of the Nizam no matter what the TRS government is saying, as it only wants to placate the MIM and woo Muslim voters,“ Sep 17, happens to be PM Modi's birthday too.
TRS leaders Kavitha, Vinod Kumar, Dasyam Vinaya Bhaskar, Harish Rao all asked BJP not to play divisive politics. Jittery TRS already started rapprochement efforts with Harish Rao meeting Venkaiah Naidu. Venkaiah Naidu said “The TRS is not an alliance partner of BJP . That does not mean that policies come in the way of the development of Telangana. We assure the Centre's support to the state government in its endeavour.“
Harish Rao and Venkaiah Naidu after the meeting attended Ganpati puja at famous Khairatabad pandal and many feel that it is significant political development.
