During the India-Russia Summit, 28 important agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed, including on trade areas.


The 21st India-Russia Summit was held yesterday. india and russia have been key diplomatic partners since Nehru's time. 


During the summit, narendra modi said that the relationship between the two countries was further strengthened with yesterday's meeting. The meeting between the two leaders comes two years later.


Earlier, india and russia signed important arms agreements at a ministerial meeting in New delhi ahead of the 21st Annual Summit. The last time the two met was at the 2019 BRICS summit.

The two countries have signed 28 agreements for mutual cooperation, including four in the defence sector. 

The two signed agreements in various fields including energy, cyber security, commerce, trade and investment. Military cooperation between the two countries will continue until 2031. 

This is an existing cooperation agreement between the two countries since 2011. 

A joint venture of Rs 5,000 crore will be launched in Amethi, UP to manufacture AK205 rifles. 

During the summit, the two countries announced that all existing agreements, including the purchase of the S-400 missile system, would go ahead as planned. 

India will provide russia with land to build another nuclear power plant at Kudankulam in tamil Nadu in addition to the Russian-built nuclear plant. 

Negotiations are also in the final stages to launch the Russian-made Sputnik Light Kovid vaccine in India. 

India-Russia trade is expected to reach $ 3 billion by 2025. russia will train India's 'Gaganyan' astronauts. 


Apart from this, cooperation in the fields of trade, energy and technology was also discussed at the ministerial meeting. 


Russian President Vladimir Putin handed over a prototype of the S400 missile to be handed over to india by russia during a meeting with the Prime Minister. 


Russia has sent two S400 missiles to india ahead of Putin's visit. 

 

During prime minister Narendra Modi's talks with President Vladimir Putin, there were 2 + 2 talks between Defense minister Rajnath Singh and Russian Defense minister Sergei Foygu. 


When the two leaders met two years later, issues ranging from the situation in afghanistan to the Covid defence were the main topics of discussion. The Russian president made it clear that terrorism is a matter of concern, citing the situation in Afghanistan. 


Putin also called for an end to organized crime and drug trafficking. Condemning Pakistan's terrorism, prime minister narendra modi sought Russia's support in the fight against terrorism. Modi thanked russia for its support in the Kovid struggle. 

 

At the same time, Putin expressed concern about the situation in Afghanistan. Putin said terrorism was a matter of concern and called for tougher measures to curb drug trafficking and organized crime. 


During a meeting in New delhi, prime minister narendra modi said that Russia's cooperation with india in the Kovid struggle was a strength. 


Prime minister narendra modi claimed that india and russia had met Covid together and that Covid had not affected relations between the two countries. 

 

The two countries signed important agreements yesterday, including the purchase of more than six lakh AK-203 rifles. It was also decided to amend the contract for the exchange of firearms in the Kalashnikov series. 


This comes after india announced yesterday that it would manufacture five lakh AK203 rifles locally at Korva in Amethi. Prior to the Modi-Putin meeting, the foreign and defence ministers of the two countries had met. 


The two countries met during a meeting between Russian Defense minister Sergei Shoigu, indian Defense minister Rajnath Singh, Russian Foreign minister Sergei Lavrov and indian Foreign minister S Jayashankar. 


During the talks, russia came out with a scathing critique of the United States. Russian Foreign minister Sergei Lavrov has accused the united states of trying to undermine India-Russia diplomatic relations. 


Russia's foreign minister has said india is under pressure to buy arms from the United States. However, he said india would make an independent decision on who to buy arms from.
