government buses run from the Nilgiris' Kotagiri to the highly forested villages of Mettupalayam and Bhavanisagar. A government bus was passing through the forest settlements yesterday morning on its way from the Tengumarahata forest to Kotagiri through Bhavanisagar, as was customary. When the bus arrived in the 'Karachikorai' area, it broke down near the woodland checkpoint.

The forest inhabitants on board the bus descended on the instruction of the bus driver and conductor. They then attempted to start the bus by pushing it. They could have gone home together a lot sooner if they had walked instead of pushing the vehicle. After a long battle, the bus finally started after a little hiccup. After a long struggle from the passengers, the bus continued on its way.

According to the inhabitants, the Tengumarahata area is home to almost 2,000 civilians. The bus that goes through this dense forest needs to be repaired on a regular basis. This is a frequent story that occurs on a daily basis. They urged that the Transport Corporation's management take steps to keep the bus service to the forest villages in good working order as it is a forest area.
