The recent heavy rains in hyderabad and other regions of telangana have provided the perfect environment for the rise in water- and vector-borne illnesses. The State health Department has advised families in urban areas to take precautions against mosquito breeding and observe dry day on sunday in order to reduce the danger of a flare-up of seasonal illnesses. The State health Department is working with ghmc and other municipalities in the districts to introduce a dry day once a week on sunday because to the potential increase in vector-borne diseases including dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.

T Harish Rao, the state's minister of health, recently unveiled such a programme and advised families to spend 10 minutes every sunday in their houses locating sources that store water and to quickly empty them. The authorities have asked people to closely monitor and empty air conditioners, coconut shells, indoor plant pots, and other household items.

"Cleanliness needs to start at home. Families must take measures indoors during this monsoon season while the State health Department implements its monsoon action plan and ensures the outdoors are maintained correctly.
