The Chikkamagaluru forest officials today arrested Umesh Ran, the former Tahsildar of Kadur taluk of Chikkamagalur district and the current Seabird special land acquisition officer of Karwar Navy, who was released from jail yesterday after getting bail. A.C. is behind the illegal bribery of government land in Ulinagar village of Kadur taluk. On the complaint of Kantaraj (Assistant Commissioner), the Kadur police arrested Umesh Rana in Peenya, Bengaluru last week and produced him before the court. The court had handed him over to judicial custody. Chikkamagaluru forest officials have taken Umesh Ran into custody in another case soon after he got bail yesterday and was released today. Former tehsildar J. Umesh of Kadur, Chikkamagaluru district, who was caught in the illegal land allotment scam, has been detained and interrogated by the forest department staff as he is out on bail. Kadur taluk Emmedoddi village S.No. Umesh is also facing charges of illegally expropriating the land under section (4) of the reserve forest in 70 during his tenure as Tahsildar.
The police have detained the forest guard Umeshar for investigation in this case. The investigation is under the leadership of Deputy Conservator of Forests Ramesh Babu.
