
Indian Railways is planning to start Vande Bharat Express train service on new railway routes. The Vande Bharat train is a semi-high speed, self-propelled train designed and manufactured indigenously under the Make india programme. Vande Bharat trains in india are designed to be very fast and transport passengers quickly. In 2019 Vande Bharat high speed trains were introduced. While 2 Vande Bharat trains are running from delhi to varanasi and from delhi to Katra, Vande Bharat trains are being introduced state by state across the country. As such, a total of 25 Vande Bharat trains are currently running.
As a follow up, indian Railways plans to launch Vande Bharat Express train services on new routes. Accordingly, the new Vande Bharat train service is expected to start soon on a total of 9 new routes. However, this information has not been officially confirmed yet. Out of the total 9 new trains, 5 routes namely indore - jaipur, jaipur - Udaipur, puri - Rourkela, patna - Howrah, jaipur - chandigarh have been tentatively finalized and 3 routes have been allotted to Southern Railway and the routes are yet to be decided. Similarly, the details of the 4th train are not known.
It is said that if 3 routes are given to Southern Railway, chennai Central - Vijayawada, chennai Egmore - tirunelveli and Bengaluru - coimbatore are likely to be given. As far as tamil Nadu is concerned, there are currently two Vande Bharat Express trains in use namely chennai Central - mysore and chennai Central - Coimbatore.
