Chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao claimed on saturday that telangana had never yearned for any water from the share of Andhra Pradesh, tearing into both the congress and the bjp for Palamuru's backwardness and its water crisis that had gone unresolved for decades. It was constantly battling for its fair share of water because it was firmly committed to directing its own destiny by meeting the demands of its water-scarce pockets.

After launching the drinking water portion of the multi-stage palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, he addressed a sizable public gathering at Narlapur and said that the bjp, which had been in power at the Centre for the previous 10 years, was to blame for the ongoing problems of the new State. Despite all of the State's efforts, prime minister Narendra Modi, the so-called "Vishwaguru," disregarded the State's request to participate in determining its proportion of river flows.

A letter from the prime minister to the Tribunal was all that was required for the State to claim its fair share of river waters. If the bjp leaders were truly committed to the cause of the State, they should have pursued it aggressively. He made reference to bjp members who attempted to block his convoy on the way to Narlapur and claimed that their true goal was to obstruct the state's progress. The congress party, which failed to protect Telangana's interests in the undivided State, was also planning to cause more disruption.

He warned the populace to be vigilant of forces that would prevent the State from continuing on its path of progress and said he was filled with joy after seeing a significant amount of water gushing out of the delivery cistern at Anjanagiri reservoir. The amount of flow was comparable to a big stream when only one pump was working. He said it's easy to imagine the effect of having all eight pumps at the Stage One pumping station running at once.

"Today, when water became a reality for palamuru, I experienced the same level of elation that I did when telangana became a state. While serving as a member of parliament for mahabubnagar, I was able to make my vision of a distinct telangana a reality. I was inspired and made into a crusader by the locals, thus I continue to be dedicated to the cause of palamuru," he stated, stating that this day was certainly a turning point in the history of the State.

However, the transformation process still had a long way to go. The former mahabubnagar district, which spans over 20 lakh acres and 14 assembly districts, needs water to quench its thirst, and that day is not far off. On numerous fronts, the State was well ahead of many other States. The growth story must continue, and that can only be done by keeping up the same level of solidarity in the struggle to accomplish the State's declared objectives, he said.

If not for the obstacles more frequently posed by the opponents within the State, according to Chandrashekhar Rao, the palamuru Rangareddy Lift proposal would have become a reality at least three to four years earlier. He claimed that congress leaders had failed in every way to defend telangana in the undivided State. They did not speak out against the injustice done to telangana before the Bachawat Tribunal. He said that the mercy of the Tribunal's judges had made the jurala project possible today.
