Reportedly canada has welcomed India's decision to resume some visa services in the country. canada said the move was a good sign amid strained relations between the two countries. Some types of visa application services for Canadians applying across the country and from abroad will resume and will be processed by indian authorities, the Embassy of india in canada said. Tensions between the two countries rose last month following prime minister Justin Trudeau's allegations of possible involvement of indian agents in the killing of Khalistani militant Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Subsequently, india temporarily suspended visa services for Canadian citizens in canada and around the world. After that, india announced the resumption of some visa services after a month. Canada's Immigration minister Mark Miller said, "India's move is a good sign amid a worrying time." He said. He also said that we feel that even this temporary stop should not have happened in the first place. "Indeed the issue of the diplomatic situation with india has caused a lot of fear in many communities," said Mark Miller.
Emergency Preparedness minister Harjit Sajjan, a member of the Sikh community, said the resumption of visa processing was good news. But it is impossible to guess what message india is trying to send through this, he said.
