A general holiday has been declared in the concerned areas on november 17, the day of voting for the second
phase of voting for the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. In this regard, under the order issued by Chhattisgarh
General Administration Department, a general holiday has been declared in all government offices and
institutions in the respective 70 assembly constituencies on 17 november 2023 for the second phase. Apart from
this, instructions have been issued to give paid leave to officers and employees in private institutions, industrial
and commercial establishments.
Constitutional holiday for employees on polling day
As per the instructions of the election Commission, the Labor Department has issued an order to give paid leave
on the day of voting to the employees working in industrial, commercial and other establishments for the
assembly elections. It is mentioned in the order that under Section 135 (b) of the Public Representation Act 151,
industrial, commercial and other establishments operating in every constituency should ensure that paid leave is
given to the employees on the voting day.
Holiday declared for voting in neighboring state also
As per the instructions of the Commission, many voters of the neighboring states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya
Pradesh and Telangana, where the voting date for the assembly General elections 2023 is fixed on 17th
november and 30th november respectively, who are working in private or public establishments/shops,
industrial undertakings or Those employed in business/business, such employed/employed relatives have also
been declared a paid holiday on the polling day of their home state.
